Rubaiyat - 2018 - Ongoing

Rubaiyat is the name of the Persian poetic form of four lines (the Vietnamese word is quatrain poetry). These paintings form the foundation of a series inspired firstly by the Rubaiyat by Omar Khayyam, a Persian mathematician, astronomer, historian, philosopher, and poet of the 11th century. Such inspiration was then followed by the sentiments regarding the cultural quintessence and the historical tragedy of one of the world’s greatest civilizations that has become extremely controversial in recent years. I see Rubaiyat as a harmony of the turbulent and the poetic; a story told by rocks made of clouds floating in a deep blue night sky, about a civilization full of contradictions – rich in scientific knowledge yet very religious, brimming with both sophistication and bold instincts, possessed by brutality and simultaneously sensitivity and compassion.
